The length of Gushul Residencies generally range from one month to four months. Longer or shorter stays may be arranged pending availability.

Residencies begin on the first day of a calendar month, and end at 12 noon on the last day of a calendar month (unless alternate arrangements are made).

Applicants are asked to indicate on the appropriate Gushul Residency Application Form their preferred months and duration of stay. Residencies can be scheduled year round. Residents who wish to return for a subsequent residency may reapply.

Applicants are also asked to indicate their preference for either the Studio or the Cottage, according to what will most appropriately meet their needs. Please see the Gushul Residency Facilities page. The selection committee reserves the right to make recommendations regarding building choices to best accommodate applicants.

Fees

Residents are responsible for all expenses related to the cost the residency, including travel, food and materials.  Residents are also responsible for the all-inclusive monthly rental fee of the facility.

Fees for Open Call Residencies

Artist’s Studio      $ 750 CDN/ month
Writer’s Cottage   $ 550 CDN/ month

Fee Payment Method Payment is made in two installments. The first installment is due following confirmation  of the Residency. The second installment is due one month prior to the residency period. Each installment is half the total Residency Fee.
