Prospective Students

Welcome to the Department of Anthropology at the University of Lethbridge!

The particulars of any local life, society, or culture, however, are not isolated from global processes and flows. Contemporary anthropology examines the material, social, and cultural conditions of human behaviour and life from this locally global perspective.

The major in Anthropology seeks to expose you to a variety of different cultures and teach you more about the culture(s) you are a part of. You will learn how to explore and understand radically different contexts in both your own and other cultures.

The Department of Anthropology has an active presence on campus through its student club and career planning workshops.

Students in the Faculty of Arts and Science have a number of special opportunities available including:

Graduates from the Anthropology program have gone on to work in such positions as: exhibit assistant, foreign service officer, development worker, multiculturalism educator, impact assessment officer, archivist assistant, immigration officer, and research assistant.
