Faculty Association

The University of Lethbridge Faculty Association is an organization of professionals composed of the academic staff at the U. of L. The Universities Act of Alberta specifies that each university shall have an academic staff association and that all members of the academic staff shall be members of this association. Here at the U. of L. the Association is best known by its acronym, ULFA.

The Faculty Handbook is our collective agreement with the University and its Board of Governors. It contains duties and responsibilities, description of the tenure and promotion process, salary schedules, and much more. It is your contract. It can be found here: http://www.uleth.ca/hr/documents

The Sessional Lecturers Handbook covers negotiated articles regarding their terms and conditions of employment and course stipend (Schedule A).

ULFA is affiliated with the Confederation of Alberta Faculty Associations (CAFA) and the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT).

Dues for the three associations will be deducted from members’ monthly pay. The rates for the deductions in 2013-2014 are as follows:

ULFA: All Members (including Sessionals) Mil rate (5.0) x actual salary
CAFA All Members (Sessionals Dues Exempt)
CAUT: Professor/Prof. Librarian IV $17.70/mos.
Assistant Professor/Prof. Librarian III $14.03/mos.
Assistant Professor/Prof. Librarian II $11.37/mos.
  Lecturers/Other $11.10/mos.
Part-Time $3.70/mos.
Sessional Lecturers $3.70/mos.
