2018 Parking Permit Lottery
We have listened to student feedback. For the upcoming academic year September 2018 – August 2019, student parking permits will be drawn through a lottery system.
To be eligible for the permit sale you need to be an admitted student at the University of Lethbridge by July 11, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.
Your offer of admission must be accepted and your tuition deposit received to be included in the lottery by July 11, 2018 at 4 p.m. Please take into consideration the expected delivery date of your tuition deposit, considering the length of time for mail delivery through Canada Post and online banking processing times.
All correspondence about the permit lottery will be sent to your student “@uleth.ca” email accounts. If you have not set up your uLethbridge account login and password, please do so now by visiting ulethbridge.ca/loginsetup
Eligible continuing and newly admitted students will enter the lottery through a customized email link from Campus Mobility Services (firstname.lastname@example.org), which will be sent on Monday, July 16, 2018.
You will have until Friday, July 20 at 12:00 p.m. to complete the lottery form, including your preferred parking lots ranked in order of preference. There is no advantage to submitting your requests earlier or later during the above period – every request submitted will have an equal chance of being granted a permit. The permit request form can only be submitted once.
If you do not receive an email with a link on July 16th, first check your Spam folder. If it isn’t there, contact email@example.com for assistance.
Students living in residence will apply for a parking permit during their Check-in through Housing Services.

Faculty, staff and Students may purchase a general parking permit in any available permit parking lot on campus, except those areas reserved for resident students. Employees have the option of purchasing their permit through payroll deduction. Payroll deduction applications normally purchased online are now unavailable. Visitor and short term parking is provided in various parking lots around campus. Parking is provided in Pay and park permit parking areas.
Customers may purchase temporary parking slips using coins or credit cards (not prepaid or debit credit cards) or through the use of the HONK mobile phone app. Depending on which Parking lot is selected parking can be for time periods of 1 hour to all day. Rates are $2.00 per hour with the exception of Lot N where parking can be acquired for a $1.50 per hour up to a maximum of $10.00 for a full day of parking. Pay and display parking is available in the following lots.
When parking in a short term parking, please ensure that you park in a designated parking stall first before completing your purchase using Pay and display or the Honk mobile app.
- Lot D and H - 1 hour minimum-1 hour maximum
- Lot C - 1 hour Minimum - 4 hour maximum
- Lot G / E - 1 hour minimum-2 hour maximum
- Lot N (north end) - 1 hour minimum-all day maximum
Pay and Park is allowed in the north end of N lot only. With the exception of Lot G all parking stalls for pay and park zones are lined in blue, with blue posted signage.
Depending on the nature of your visit or frequency of visits to campus, Consultants and/or Contractors requiring parking on campus have the option to use Pay & Park lots, or purchase daily, weekly, or annual Contractor permits directly from Parking Services. Purchases are invoiced to your business only, no cash payments are accepted.
Consultants and/or Contractors working under the authority of the Facilities department requiring parking on campus are required to report to their Facilities contact (i.e. Facilities Manager, Project Manager) to purchase their parking permit. These permitsmust be pre-arranged by the Facilities Contact and will be invoiced to your business by Parking Services. Parking permits are only valid for the duration of work.
Campus Mobility Services operates as a full cost recovery operation under the Executive Director, Facilities. Revenue to support the department is primarily generated through parking fees, which are tied to the reinvestment for future capital improvement services, repairs and maintenance to existing parking facilities and the purchase of services required to operate the parking system. How do I apply for a parking permit?

How much does parking cost?
The cost of a parking permit is varied by lot and time frame the permit is valid. Current rates can be found at http://www.uleth.ca/facilities/parking
I work at the University of Lethbridge, am I eligible to pay for my parking permit via payroll deduction?
Employees eligible for payroll deduction are those categorized as full time continuing salaried. Hourly staff are not eligible for payroll deduction. Please contact Campus Mobility Services if you have any questions.
How can I obtain Accessible parking?
If you require accessible parking on campus you must be in possession Provincial Disability placard.
If using the Provincial placard on campus it must be registered with Campus Mobility Services and displayed with a valid U of L permit. To register your Handicap Placard, supply a copy of the placard and the pink Provincial registration certificate to Campus Mobility Services.
An individual that holds a Disability placard and is in need of a University of Lethbridge parking permit will be charge the cost of a Lot N permit. Campus Mobility Services charges the Lot N price as it is the lowest permit cost available on campus. Although the individual will hold a Lot N permit they will be able to utilize any of the accessibility stalls around campus.
Please be advised all accessibility stalls are on a first come first serve basis, there is no guarantee that a stall in your preferred lot will be available. For any accessibility concerns please call Campus Mobility Services at 403-329-2602.
I am a visitor to campus, where can I park?

What about weekends? Is parking free?
Weekend parking is available for free in certain parking lots. Lots E, F, G and N become free to park in Friday after 5pm and will be enforced again Monday at 8am. Lot C is available to park in Friday after 7pm and is enforced again Monday at 7am.

Is my permit refundable?
Yes, your permit is refundable please bring it back to Campus Mobility office in TH101. The Lot Q permit is only refundable until September 24, after this period a refund in not available. Annual, 8 month, and semester permits can be returned for the time not used. The permit will be refunded for the months following, up to the expiry date of the permit as per scheduled ciut-off dates.
Parking permits are the property of the University of Lethbridge and cannot be re-sold.
What are the consequences of forging, unauthorized selling or buying of a parking permit?
Parking permit forgeries are a punishable offence. These actions are punishable by the forgery confiscated, the full cost of the parking permit the forgery was created for, and a non-academic disciplinary action letter against your student record. When a forged permit has been found and identified, the offending vehicle is immediately towed off campus at the owner’s expense.
Unauthorized selling of a permit holds the consequences of a non-academic disciplinary action against a student records as well as possible monetary charges.
Purchasing a permit through unauthorized means holds the consequences of a citation for an invalid permit, the possibility of the vehicle being towed off campus, a non-academic disciplinary letter against your student record, as well as the cost of either $10 a day for the days the permit was used up to the full cost of the permit.
What do I do if I forget my hanging Parking Permit and still need to park?
If you have forgotten your permit, please contact Campus Mobiity Services right away. Parking permits must be visible in order to be valid.
Vehicles that have been registered to a permit are still required to display their permit. Printed on all University permits is the regulation "Permits must be displayed in order to be valid". Please ensure that your permit is clearly displayed and visible. Parking enforcement employees are not required to search for permits that are not hanging from the rear view mirror but may be somewhere else inside the vehicle in question. Vehicles with a UofL parking permit that is obscured by other objects can be ticketed because the validity of the permit (expiry date/lot designation) cannot be verified.
Why can’t I park for free when the parking lot is empty?
Although the parking lots may appear empty enforcement may still be in effect if it is a regular working day. Parking regulations are applicable all year round. The daily operations and public access to the University of Lethbridge continues to be required for a wide variety of reasons outside of just the Academic calendar.
Parking is completely self-funding and therefore receives no funding from tuition fees, or Government. Things like parking lot construction and maintenance, sidewalks, paths, roads, electricity for lighting, snow removal, financial services, employee salaries, to name a few, must be paid for by revenues generated by parking fees.
What should I do if my car breaks down or if I have been drinking and cannot drive home?
If you are legally parked and have consumed alcohol, you may leave your vehicle where it is overnight.
The best option would be to contact Campus Mobility Services (403-329-2602) or the Security Services Office (403-329-2549) after hours with your license plate number and location of your vehicle. This step may prevent your vehicle from being ticketed or towed. Vehicles left for this reason must be removed by 8am the next morning.
What can I do if I don’t feel safe walking to my vehicle after hours?
There are two different options for you. You may contact the U of L Safewalk program at 403-380-1888 and two designated Safewalkers (female and male) will meet you at your locations and walk with you to your vehicle, classroom or residence on campus.
At any time you may contact Security at 403-329-2345 and request an escort anywhere on campus.
How can I dispute a ticket I have received?
If you believe a ticket issued to you was unjustified, please go to https://parking.uleth.ca for the parking website where you can submit an appeal and attach any significant information. All appeals must be submitted through the online forum, we do not have an in person appeal system.
Is parkng free if the Parking dispenser is not working?
If the parking dispenser is out of service, please contact Campus Mobility Services at 403-329-2602. Please have this information ready:
- Where is the dispenser located
- An explanation of the problem
The dispensers will be checked and any necessary repairs done as soon as possible.
How are parking rates set?
All parking rates are set by the University Of Lethbridge Board Of Governors.
What do I do if my permit is lost or stolen?
If your permit is lost or stolen you must report it to the police department in the appropriate jurisdiction. A copy of the police report or the file number must be provided to Campus Mobility Services, a report will be filled out and a replacement permit will be issued at the cost of $45.00. By reporting the incident, you allow us to better track all missing permits and help ensure it is not being used unlawfully. Permits reported lost or stolen and are found in use on campus will result in the vehicle being towed and a follow up investigation will be initiated
Where can I park my motorcycle or bicycle?
Designated motorcycle parking areas can be found in lots C, M and N/
Motorcycles parking in designated motorcycle stalls do not require a displayed parking permit.
Bicycle parking is strategically located across the campus. Bicycles must be parking in supplied bike stands. Bicycles attached to trees or outside of designated stands maybe removed and placed in storage. To retrieve your bicycle after it has been removed, contact Security Services and provide identification and proof of ownership.
There is no charge to use the outdoor bicycle racks.
Bicycle lockers may be rented from Sport & Rec. Services.
