Jointer

  • Guard must be kept over knives at all times while jointer is being operated.
  • The depth of the cut must be adjusted before power is turned on.
  • A push stick must be used when jointing narrow or flat pieces of stock.
  • The jointer must not be used for strips less than one inch wide.
  • The end grain of pieces of wood less than 12 inches wide must never be run over the jointer. Pieces12 inches and wider can be successfully jointed against the end grain. In performing this operation, first run the end of the board on to the revolving blade for about 1 inch, then turn the board around and joint the end all the way across; this prevents splitting.
