Information for Presenters

Submit a Proposal to Present

Submit Online through our submission form in order to participate as a presenter. You will be asked to provide details on your project.

Please note: this event is not mandatory. Deadline for submissions is the last Sunday before the Symposium.

Content of Presentation

  • You will share how your project developed and describe your process of shaping/implementing those ideas.
  • Our audience (including many incoming interns) is particularly interested in your process: how you identified a need/opportunity and went about formulating your inquiry around that (ie: how did you come up with your project?).
  • Please refrain from sharing specific identifying information about your school/class.
You may wish to use the following outline for the content of your presentation:

How the Inquiry Project Began:

  *   What sparked your interest in this topic?

 *   What sources did you consult to help you shape your inquiry process?.

The Process:

  *   What steps/actions did you undertake as part of your inquiry?

  *   What challenges/considerations/setbacks/new information arose?

  *   What did you observe and discover throughout the process?

Reflection:

  *  How did this inquiry process contribute to your professional practice?

*   Do you have any goals for future learning or inquiry based on what you learned?

You may also involve attendees in any way that suits your time frame and topic.

More About the Presentation Format

10-Minute Presentation/Talk
  • Plan to present for up to ten minutes, including questions. Use visuals to enhance your talk (ie- slides, your website, video/audio as needed).
  • Be sure to post any files you need on a Web-based platform such as Google Drive, Microsoft One Point, Prezi, Canva etc. so you can access them easily.
  • You will be presenting in a classroom and will have access to the desktop computer (sound, document camera, projector).
  • You might expect anywhere from 10-25 attendees at your talk.
  • We will need a facilitator for each room (to introduce participants and keep the room flowing). Let us know if you want to be a facilitator!

This event is intended as a sharing and celebration of your professional learning. Feedback from past presenters suggests that the experience of participating in the Symposium is a valuable way to consolidate your learning and build connections.

Thank you for participating in this exciting afternoon.
You are also invited to reach out to professors/instructors/staff you have worked with. Please extend them a personal invitation!
