The idea for this web site is to have a place where other model train enthusiasts can contribute to the planning, development and operation of a model train layout. [Jan. 9, 1999] The other objective is to provide an on-line "story" of the ideas and mistakes of one model train enthusiast, for the possible benefit of other beginners.[Jan. 17, 1999] By making this site open to the public, I am hoping that I have created a virtual model train club where people may come and go, and in some cases stay, as we develop both a model train layout and a web site devoted to this layout. I anticipate both the actual layout and this web site will develop slowly over many months. Reviewing this a week later, I think the word "months" should be replaced by the word "years". Summer is traditionally a time for a break from normal duties. I have been away from both my model trains and this web site for about 3 months. It is now August 2, 1999 and I hope to begin spending some time on the hobby again. August has been a fairly succesful month. I have put more time into the hobby than during any other month this year. Even more importantly, I think I have a fairly clear idea of the final track plan. Time will tell if this is a good idea. All suggestions are welcome. |
