This review of Lessig's Code and other Laws of Cyberspace was written and produced by Holly Gunn as an assignment for Education 5053: "Cyberculture: A Sociological Analysis for Educators"; part of a two week Summer Institute on Technology and Learning at Acadia University, Wolfwille, Nova Scotia, Canada, August 2001. It is reposted here with the author's permission. (A few minor modifications have been introduced by the instructor to serve specific instructional purposes in another course.) . Holly Gunn is a veteran high school teacher-librarian with Sackville High School, in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, Canada. (Lower Sackville is a suburb about twenty kilometers from Halifax). As a teacher-librarian she maintains an extensive web site on information technology in k-12 education. Her site contains useful information on issues in computers in education addressing such topics as Girls and Computers, Internet Addiction, Internet Copyright, Evaluating Web Pages, and Sites for children and Teens (among many other topics); search engines, Power Internet Search Techniques, Virtual School Library, and Webquests and Other Online Learning Modules and Information Literacy. And much more! These pages are highly recommended by R. Runté as exemplars of the quality to which all school-based web sites should aspire. |
