    • Research Grants and Proposals
      Inukshuk Funding -Eastern slopes virtual exploration (2005 - 2006)
      This proposed project will develop a web site that provides a virtual experience of significant locations on the eastern slopes through innovative media. It is intended to benefit junior and senior high school courses as well as University and College programs. In Dec of 2005 an expression of interest was sent to the Inukshuk fund which supports innovative projects for creating content on the Internet. In the spring of 2006 a full proposal was submitted. Unfortunately the project was not supported by the adjudication committee.

    • ICT leadership Needs Assessment (2003 - 2004)
      - a joint project with district ICT leaders from around the province to determine needs in the are of ICT leadership. Maurice Hollingsworth is the lead researcher with Rick Mrazek and myself involved in the development and administration of needs assessment instruments for school and district level ICT leaders.

    • Learning Enhancement Envelope - ICT database (2001-2003)
      - developed a collaborative LEE proposal with Norma Nocente (U. of A.) and Bruce Clarke (U. of C.) in regards to providing online support materials for professional development purposes - the University of Lethbridge's share of the funding amounted to $20,000 and involved the development of an online database or resources related to technology and education

    • BELLE (2001-2003)
      - I had worked with Rick Mrazek and CRDC on the BELLE funded project that involved the digitization of innovative instructional practice that incorporates technology. The result of this project is a series of video vignettes that is published to the BELLE repository (database), were incorporated into courses. This has come to an end with a number of useful vignettes that are now available on CD, DVD, and on the web (published through ICTR&D project). Here is a URL

    • Learning Enhancement Envelope - ICT R&D (1999 - 2002)
      - became involved in the on-line project later to become the ICT R&D project that used the team approach to develop and evaluate online courses for the Faculty of Education
      researched and wrote up literature review
      worked cooperatively with Rick Mrazek to develop an internal LEE proposal for the on-line project that was approved and funded - $35,000

    • Ultrastructure Project (2000 - 2001)
      - I worked with Doug Bray from Biology and James Graham from NEW MEDIA on a collaborative initiative entitled, the Ultrastructure project
      it involved using multimedia as a means of teaching students cell ultrastructure, the results was a prototype that was piloted in the Fall 2001 with science students.

    • Teacher Redeveloment Fund - Visualization and Collaboration in Problem Solving (1999-2000)
      - developed with the help of Rick Mrazek, a successful proposal though U. of L. internal funding for enhancing a course entitled, Problem Solving with Computers ($3,500)

    • ACCESS (2000)
      helped to develop the ACCESS proposal for an undergraduate technology specialization which was successful and allowed the Faculty to hire an additional person

    • Faculty Survey (1999)
      worked with a graduate assistant that had collected data on the Faculty technology survey, this information was shared with the CTiTL committee in the form of a report summarizing the results

    • Multimedia as Research Portrayal (1999)
      developed an evaluation of Rick Mrazek’s Ed 5410 that was done entirely online, this involved video taping students and instructors, and examining relevant e-mail messages, this resulted in a successful paper proposal to SITE 2000 conference (Society of Information Technology and Education), and I have completed an online report (Interactive Multimedia as Research Portrayal) - see the resulting web site to view the research data (multimedia portrayals):

    • Role of Audience in Multimedia Production (1999)
      in the spirit of research flowing out of my scholarly teaching I formulated a way of collecting data and reporting on my students experience in my multimedia course, researching the effectiveness of peer evaluation

    • 3-D Visualization (2001)
      exploring the value of using 3D programs for educational purposes, submitted a paper to the journal of Learning and Leading with Technology, as well as presented a paper to the ATACC conference on this topic

    • ACCESS Proposal (1998)
      helped to develop the access proposal for an undergraduate technology specialization which was successful - involves taking four comuter related courses - see Student Program Sevices for details

    • Teaching Redevelopment Fund (1999)
      Rick Mrazek and I successfully applied for the Teaching Redevelopment Fund with a proposal for Ed 4762, Problem Solving with Computers, the title of the proposal was “Visualization and Collaboration in Problem Solving”. This proposal was accepted and it was taught in the Fall 1999. The intent was to develop online approaches for students to collaborate and share visualizations of their problem solving process.

      This project was field tested and the evaluation suggested that it was quite successful (questionnaires and tests administered to undergraduate Biology students).

    • ICT R&D (1998 - 2000):
      Information Communications Technology Research and Development (ICT R&D)
      part of a team involved in a\ project that puts selected Faculty of Education courses online. The focus was to enhance on-line delivery systems using multimedia and collaborative tools.

    • LEE Project (Learning Enhancement Envelope) (1998 - 2001)
      developed a collaborative LEE proposal with Norma Nocente (U. of A.) and Bruce Clarke (U. of C.) in regards to providing online support materials for professional development purposes - the U. of L. contribution is developing an on-line resource.... not sure what this will look like yet

    • Galileo Project (1999 - 2001)
      part of an ongoing project exploring how we can provide ways for teachers to learn how to integrate technology effectively

    • 3A Laptops Project (Anywhere Anytime Anyplace) (2001)
      working with David Rideout from the Livingstone Range School Division in regards to researching their laptop project which will give teachers and every junior high students their own person laptop, in selected schools

    • BELLE - Exemplary Practice (2001)
      worked with Rick Mrazek and CRDC on the BELLE project, which involves the digitization of exemplary practice videos - this is an ongoing project

    • Multimedia Production in PSIII (2001)
      became involved in a project initiated by Janice Rahn that will involve giving PSIII students in a concentrated multimedia practicum experience, this is an ongoing research project
