I Thought About it While Laying on the Floor opening reception

Friday, May 11, 7 p.m., Dr. Foster James Penny Building, 324 5 St. S.

This exhibition highlights the work of two U of L students, Grace Wirzba and Angeline Simon, as part of their Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Studio degrees. Wirzba explores her personal intimacy with architectural spaces as part of her feminist practice. Simon focuses on consumption, accumulation and the remains of domestic spaces in her work.

Culture Vulture: Sculpt

Saturday, May 12, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Atrium, University Centre for the Arts

Anyone who wants to learn how to make a stop-motion video is invited to this session of Culture Vulture. Participants will be making clay characters and backdrops out of recycled materials to use in creating their videos. Those attending are asked to bring a phone or tablet to capture their movie. Free apps for stop-motion include Imotion or Stop Motion Studio.

Party on the Square!

Saturday, May 12, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Casa, 230 8 St. S.

Everyone is welcome to attend the fifth anniversary celebration of Casa, the space the U of L Conservatory of Music calls home. The party includes live music, a barbecue, cake and facility tours.

En Plein Air ’18

Sunday, May 13, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Coutts Centre for Western Canadian Heritage, Nanton

All artists are invited to capture the beauty of the Coutts Centre in their chosen medium at the fifth annual En Plein Air events. Other En Plein Air events are scheduled for June 17, July 22 and August 19. The Coutts Centre Arts Festival will be held July 22 and includes live music, Shakespeare in the Garden, family art activities, Brown’s Sunday Brunch and much more.
