Advisory - U of L to announce funding for new green polymer technologies

Media are invited to attend an event announcing Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) providing funding to the University of Lethbridge to establish a Green Polymer and Technologies Centre in collaboration with Flexahopper Plastics Ltd.

What — Announcement of a Green Polymer and Technologies Centre that will develop innovative biodegradable plastics and technologies that make the process of production more energy efficient and cost effective.

Why — Plastic processing is a growing sector of Canada’s manufacturing industry. Reducing energy costs and dependence on fossil fuels will allow western Canadian plastic manufacturing companies to create new markets in biodegradable plastics and increase their profit margins.

Where — Atrium, University Hall

When — 11 a.m. Friday, September 28

Who — Dr. Erasmus Okine, U of L vice-president (research), Dr. Paul Hazendonk, a U of L professor with expertise in polymer chemistry, and Bill Spenceley (BASc ’81), president of Flexahopper Plastics Ltd.
