What: The opening celebration of a special photo exhibit depicting local Blackfoot families in everyday moments of childrearing, a testament to Blackfoot culture and identity

When: Friday, March 11, 2016 at 9 a.m.

Where: Park Place Mall, Winners entrance area

A collaborative project between Opokaa’sin Early Intervention Society and the University of Lethbridge’s Institute for Child and Youth Studies, this photo exhibit (curated by U of L Museum Studies students) is one facet of Raising Spirit: The Opokaa’sin Digital Storytelling Project, in which Blackfoot Elders and children will come together to develop interactive digital recordings of traditional cultural stories – a way to preserve the past and help its rich heritage influence future generations.

Representatives from Okopaa’sin, Elders from the Blackfoot community and researchers from the U of L project team will be available for interviews.
