Lego Serious Play Workshop (RSVP)
Date: September 19, 2017
Location: N418 (Bow Valley College, North Campus)
Creative problem solving is a high demand skill set for the modern employer. Having the capacity to deal with disruptive innovation, tackle wicked problems and adapt to fast changing environments is a prized skill set. Creativity is more than an innate set of character traits– it can be learnt, practised and rehearsed to improve your ability to respond to interesting problems with creative solutions. In this session, you will experience the Lego Serious Play process, born out of the Lego Corporation’s internal planning processes in response to their 1990s decline in market share. The workshop features skills training in thinking, creating and explaining physical representations of abstract ideas by playing with Lego bricks in a structured environment. Lead by Dr Stephen Dann of the Australian National University, the seminar explores how to “think different” through hand-mind coordination, constructionism, and trusting yourself in unfamiliar conditions.
Dr Stephen Dann is a certified Lego Serious Play practitioner who has facilitated over 50 Lego Serious Play workshops across Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada. When not constructing something from Lego, he can be found teaching marketing as the Senior Lecturer in Marketing at the Research School of Management, in the College of Business and Economics at the Australian National University.
