Prof. Ng has been keeping busy during her current leave from the University of Lethbridge. In 2012 she received the Canada Council for the Arts for Professional Writers Award as well as received in 2011-2013 the University Scholar (Humanities).
She has been working on two articles - Transcultural Daughter and Immigrant Mother: Contesting Affiliations in Immigrant Narratives and The Ethnic 'I' in Transcultural Narratives by Chinese Canadian Women.
In September, 2012 she attended the Transculturation and Aesthetics Conference at the University of Bergen, Norway where she presented Transcultural Daughter and Immigrant Mother: The Politics of Filial Positioning in Immigrant Narratives and in July, 2013 she will be presenting The Mother Figure in World Literature: Mothers in the Old World and Daughters in Transition at the International Comparative Literature Congress in Sorbonne, Paris.
