As the December 1st competition deadline fast approaches, Prof. Craig Monk and his colleagues at the Research Society for American Periodicals will soon set to work choosing the best book published in the field of periodical studies for 2011 and 2012.  Co-sponsored by the RSAP and EBSCOhost, the database and eBook provider, this $1,500 award attracts entries from throughout North America.  Prof. Monk is chairing the current panel, composed of Jean Lee Cole (Loyola), Cynthia Patterson (South Florida, Lakeland), and Karen Roggenkamp (Texas A&M, Commerce).  The winner will be announced at the Annual Conference of the American Literature Association in Boston in May 2013.

Robert Scholes and Clifford Wulfman's Modernism in the Magazines (Yale UP) won the award for 2009 and 2010.

American Periodicals, the journal of the RSAP, has been co-edited by Prof. Monk at the University of Lethbridge since Spring 2011.  AP 23.1 (Spring 2013) is currently in press.
