There is a new CHEM 4000 class being offered in Fall 2012.
Prerequisite – Chem 2740
This course will explore different theoretical approaches to chemical kinetics, with the objective of learning where the basic laws of kinetics, such as the laws of mass action and microscopic reversibility, come from.
Theories discussed may include gas-phase collision theory, theories of diffusion-influenced reactions, reaction dynamics, transition-state theory, theories of unimolecular reactions in the gas phase, irreversible thermodynamics, as well as applications of stochastic processes to kinetics.
