Graduate Student Pinar Kocak has been speaking with mothers of children with Attention Deficit Disorder about their children’s educational experiences, and about their choices to homeschool their children.
She has found that the lack of appropriate and consistent classroom resources and inadequate teaching methods has left some mothers turning to homeschooling as their only viable option.
Mothers who did decide to homeschool found that their family life, and their children’s attitudes were much improved by moving to a homeschooling model, however, there are also many downsides to the experience, and issues of finance and family structure affected women’s capacity to engage in sustained homeschooling.
