Our Facility is home to a 4.7T Animal MRI scanner which is located in the Canadian Center for Behavioural Neuroscience (CCBN). The animal MRI scanner has been at field since Dec. 2006 and is housed inside the animal facility of the CCBN. This scanner has an Oxford 4.7T magnet with a 330mm horizontal bore. This system also uses a Magnetic Resonance MR6000 console. Our 2013 RTI purchased a state of the art MRI compatible animal monitoring and temperature control system and 3 new detection coils for brain and body MRI. It will also enable an upgrade to MR Solutions all digital EVO console soon. This system is hooked up to the helium recovery system that reduces the cryogen costs associated with the magnet by about 85-90%. For more information on the animal MRI system in the U of L Magnetic Resonance Facility please contact Dr. Albert Cross.
