Welcome to the Department of History at the University of Lethbridge. Our department offers a diverse range of courses, from the history of ancient Greece and Rome to European dictatorships of the twentieth century. The courses we offer do not simply focus upon political history, but also deal with such broader themes as gender and religion, to name only a few examples.
Our faculty are internationally recognized for their research in such areas as Soviet medicine, medieval warfare and violence, the borderlands of the North American West, the history of the family in early modern Scotland, conscientious objection in Canada, the history of homicide, society in the slave-holding South, and Canadian religious orders.
We as a department are confident that our courses, as well as our diverse areas of expertise, will offer something of interest to everyone studying History at the University of Lethbridge.
We hope that our departmental website will provide answers to any questions you may have regarding our courses or programs. If not, of course, feel free to contact us for more information.
