Scott Morrison (2000)

Scott MorrisonMy journey in the environmental field started when I enrolled at NAIT in 1988. I graduated with a diploma in Biological Sciences (Renewable Resources Option) and then proceeded south to Lethbridge where I obtained a certificate in Conservation Enforcement from Lethbridge Community College in 1992. I landed a job as a fisheries technician with RL&L Environmental Services Ltd. and spent two glorious years exploring rivers and lakes in Alberta, British Columbia, and the Northwest Territories. After being out of the environmental field for six years, I decided that it was time to get back on track, so I enrolled at the University of Lethbridge and graduated with a B.Sc. in Environmental Science in 2000.

After graduation, the owners of RL&L Environmental Services Ltd. offered me a position as a fisheries technician. Since the merger with Golder Associates Ltd. in 2001, I have moved up the ranks to a biologist position in Golder's Edmonton office. My primary responsibilities include developing, organizing, and implementing field sampling and monitoring programs, as well as conducting data analysis, report writing, and project management. Some of the clients we represent include oil & gas sectors, mining, energy and utilities, forestry, and government agencies.

The combination of University and Technical College experience has proved to be an invaluable asset in all areas of my career. The university training has allowed me to expand my understanding of scientific enquiry and backed by the technical training I have received has made my adaptability in field situations that much more effective.
