Learn more about Economics at the U of L!

As a prospective student interested in economics, you have already demonstrated that you want to make a difference in the world. In it's broadest sense, economics is the study of how to best allocate valuable resources in a world where resources are scarce. Economists develop policies to address some of the world's toughest problems, like chronic poverty, poor sanitation, literacy and education, racial and gender equality, feeding populations and defining legal rights. Economists also understand where to draw the line between the roles of government and the private sector in the economy. Many rewarding career paths are available to students with training in economics (see the Resources tab).
