What is Co-op?

Co-operative Education combines real-world work experience with academic studies and has garnered international recognition as the preferred way to complete a degree. The program works to create a partnership between students, the University, and the employer, and to offer students an extended learning environment, and the ability to network with employers. The co-op experience allows students to integrate academic semesters with work terms.

• Allows students to experience real-world application of their discipline
• Introduces students to employment possibilities in the workplace
• Develops valuable research skills for future work experience or graduate school
• Encourages proactive job search skills
• Provides students with challenging and relevant PAID work experience
• Assists students in making realistic and informed career choices
• Provides the opportunity for students to build valuable contacts with employers
• Assists students in the transition from University to the workplace

Majors

The Faculty of Arts & Science Co-operative Education and Internship Program is available to undergraduate and graduate level students (BSc, BA, BASc, MA, MSc) and combined degree students with Management & Education as well as Public Health (BHSc Health Sciences) and Fine Arts (FA/MA Art, Drama, Music) students in the following majors:
