The Westcastle Field Station was built in the 1970s. Located near the Castle Mountain Ski Hill it is less than 90 minutes from the University. The cabin is now equipped with electricity and hot water. The area sports an impressive biodiversity with terrestrial habitats including forests and meadows, and sub-alpine through alpine habitats. Aquatic habitats include wetlands, the tributaries of the Castle River, creeks and high altitude lakes. For more information about the university field station please contact Dr. Andy Hurly (403-329-2320).
