Student Research in the Academic Writing Program
Students who are interested in studying a particular topic or theme related to rhetorical analysis or discourse studies as an Independent Study should contact an Academic Writing Program instructor who specializes in that area.
Some topics in which students recently have completed Independent Studies in the AWP include The Rhetoric of the Human Genome Project, The Rhetoric of Wildness, Metaphors of Memory, The Pragmatics of Style, Economic Metaphors in Writing, and The Rhetoric of Narrative Therapy.
